Rev. Charles Buck

The Rev. Dr. Buck has been the Conference Minister of the Hawaii Conference of the United Church of Christ since 2004. As Conference Minister, he is the top administrator for the United Church of Christ in Hawaii, which is one of 39 Conferences in the United Church of Christ.

Prior to his election as Conference Minister, he served as the Senior Pastor at the Judd Street United Church of Christ in Nuuanu for seven years. He has also held pastoral positions at the San Francisco Korean Methodist Church and Skyline Community United Church of Christ in Oakland.

Rev. Buck has also served as president of the Hawaii Council of Churches Fund, which underwrites the annual Easter sunrise service at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, and the ecumenical Open Table.

Born in San Francisco, Rev. Buck graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and earned a master’s degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Stanford University.

Norman T.S. Chong

Mr. Chong became the Chief Financial Officer of Arcadia upon his retirement as a partner in a national CPA firm in 2000. His responsibilities include oversight of all financial and certain operational matters. Norman received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University and his Master’s of Business Administration from Stanford University. He is a former Moderator and member of the Board of Trustees of Central Union Church, former Chairman of the Arcadia Board of Directors, and a former Board member and Treasurer of the Hawaii Foodbank and the Better Business Bureau of Hawaii. Norman currently serves on the Boards of The Queen’s Medical Center, the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross and Mid Pacific Institute.

Marvin Hall

Mr. Hall retired in 1995 as President of the Hawaii Medical Service Association, HMSA.

He was born in Phoenix, Arizona and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Accounting from Arizona State University and later attended management programs at the University of Colorado and the University of Michigan.

He presently serves on the boards of Health Plan Hawaii, the HMSA Foundation, the HPH Foundation, and the Salvation Army Family Treatment Center Advisory Board.

He formerly served on a number of boards including the Aloha United Way, the Governors Committee on AIDS, the Governors Blue Ribbon Panel on Health Care Costs, the Hawaii State Labor Department’s Health Plan Advisory Committee; and Chair of the Western Conference of Prepaid Medical Care Plans, and as Chair of Arcadia Retirement Residence. He has also served as a Trustee, and as a Deacon of Central Union Church.

David Iha

David Iha joined the Office of the University of Hawaii Board of Regents in 1998 as its Executive Administrator and Secretary. He retires from this post in October, 2006 after 40 years of service to the University. Prior to joining the Board staff, he served for 17 years as Provost (Campus President) of Kauai Community College in Lihue. He also serves as the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE) certifying officer for the State of Hawaii.

He received his BA from Wheaton College, Illinois and his Master’s in Education from the University of Hawaii. He also attended the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University. In 2003, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the National University of the Ryukyus (Okinawa-Japan).

David has served on several boards and commissions including the Board of Directors of the American Council on Education (ACE), Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges-Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the Commission on Small and/or Rural Community Colleges of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

Locally, he serves on the boards of the Hawaii Conference Foundation as its Chair, the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation, and Community Links Hawaii. David resides on Kauai and is a member of Lihue Christian Church.

Greg M. Sato

Mr. Sato is an attorney who represents management in labor and employment law. His practice includes state and federal compliance, counseling and defending in discrimination and wrongful discharge lawsuits, and responding to union organizing drives and their aftermath.
In 1974, he earned his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Southern California and in 1978 completed a joint M.B.A./J.D. degree at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and the School of Law.

He is active in community affairs and has been a Director, President and Chair of the Hawaii and State Council for the Society of Human Resource Management, Director of the Hawaii Justice Foundation, Director of Winners at Work, Deacon and Trustee of Central Union Church, Chair of the Hawaii Public Employees Health Trust Fund, a member of the Local Rules Committee for the United States District Court of Hawaii, and as Chair of Arcadia Retirement Residence.

Emmet White

Mr. White has been Arcadia’s President and Chief Executive Officer for 11 years. Prior to Arcadia, he practiced law for 23 years in Honolulu. He is also a Nursing Home Administrator. Emmet received his Bachelor of Arts from Lafayette College and his Juris Doctor from the College of William & Mary. He has served Central Union as a Moderator, Trustee and Deacon, and is a member of the Hawaii Long Term Care Association. He also serves on the Honolulu Subarea Health Planning Council for the State Health, Planning & Development Agency. A retired Army Reserve Colonel, he is an Ombudsman for the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Program.

James Wo

Mr. Wo has served as a Trustee of Punahou School, and a Director for Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific and its Foundation, Arcadia Retirement Residence, The Arcadia Foundation and First Hawaiian Bank.

He is the Chairman of the Board and Director of Bojim Investments, Inc., the Vice President-Treasurer and Director of BJ Management Corp., and the General Managing Partner of JJ Partners.

Mr. Wo is a graduate of Punahou and Stanford University. He is past President and Director/Chairman of C.S. Wo & Sons, Ltd., former Executive Committee member and Director of First Interstate Bank of Hawaii. He has been Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Honolulu, Child Family Services, and the Hawaii Community Foundation, Trustee and President of the Punahou Alumni Association, and a Trustee and Vice Chairman of the University of Hawaii Foundation. In addition, he has held the position of Trustee for Hawaii Loa College, Central Union Church, and Kuakini Health System.
